Layout of Longitudinal Reports

A Longitudinal Report displays one or more graphs, with a table below. The graphs illustrate the performance data in the table.

The table includes a row for each related assessment (including that of the original Assessment Report). Assessments are listed chronologically. If the students in the report completed the same assessment with separate test reasons, a separate row is provided for each test reason.

The first graph and the first expandable section in the table (both labeled "Overall") provide overall performance information for the related assessments. Each additional graph and table panel provides performance information for an individual reporting category.

For individual students, line graphs depict both score and performance level data. For groups of students, line graphs depict average score data, while vertical performance distribution bars depict performance level data. Each point or bar on a graph represents a row from the table, and each has a symbol, such as a dot, indicating what type of test it is. When more than one test type is present, the legend for the symbols displays immediately below the graphs. If your report contains multiple test types, click the test type toggles in the legend immediately below the graphs to hide and show data for each one. Note that these toggles do not affect report printouts or exports.

When the tests have both score and performance level data, you can switch between the two by clicking the toggle bar at the upper-right corner of a graph. You may want to do this if you find performance level data easier to read, or if you prefer the precision of score data. Sometimes a test includes only one type of data.

Longitudinal Reports can be filtered by school years, test reasons, and test labels (the names of the assessments). For more information on filtering Longitudinal Reports, refer to Filtering Tables.

Table 10 describes the columns in the Longitudinal Report table for an individual student.

Table 10: Overview of the Longitudinal Report Table for an Individual Student
Column Description
Date Date on which the student completed the assessment.
Test Group Type of test. This column is present only when more than one test type is available in the report.
Test Label Name of the assessment.
Test Reason Testing category assigned to the test opportunity. Typically indicates the timeframe in which an interim or benchmark test was taken.
Overall

Displays student performance data for the entire assessment. This column consists of multiple sub-columns:

  • Student's Score: Student's score for the whole assessment.
  • Student's Performance: Student's performance level for the whole assessment.
[Reporting Category] (multiple columns)

Appears when the tests have multiple reporting categories, and displays student performance data for each reporting category. This column consists of multiple sub-columns:

  • Student's Score: Student's score for the reporting category.
  • Student's Performance: Student's performance level for the reporting category.

Table 11 describes the columns in the Longitudinal Report table for a group of students.

Table 11: Overview of the Longitudinal Report Table for a Student Group
Column Description
Date The earliest date on which an opportunity of the assessment was completed.
Test Group Type of test. This column is present only when more than one test type is available in the report.
Test Label Name of the assessment.
Test Reason Testing category assigned to the test opportunity. Typically indicates the timeframe in which an interim or benchmark test was taken.
Overall

Displays student performance data for the entire assessments. This column consists of multiple sub-columns:

  • Average Score: Mean average assessment score for all the students in the common student group.
  • [Performance Level]: The percentage of students in the student group who performed at that performance level. A column appears for each performance level in the assessment.
[Reporting Category] (multiple columns)

Appears when the tests have multiple reporting categories, and displays student performance data for each reporting category. This column consists of multiple sub-columns:

  • Average Score: Mean average assessment score in the reporting category for all the students in the common student group.
  • [Performance Level]: The percentage of students in the common student group who performed at that performance level for the reporting category. A column appears for each performance level in the reporting category.
