About the Student Performance on Test Report

The Student Performance on Test report provides information about how an individual student performed on an individual assessment.

To access the Student Performance on Test report:

Table 3 describes the columns in the report table. The columns may vary depending on the test; results for summative tests do not include item-level data. If a column header displays Editable for an item, you can click the score links in this column to modify the item’s score (refer to Modifying Scores for Machine-Scored Items in Reports). When a machine-generated score has a low confidence level, or when a condition code of Non-Specific or Uninterpretable Language has been assigned by machine, Low confidence warning displays next to the score. It is highly recommended that you review scores flagged with this icon.

Column Description
Student

Depending on your role, this column may include the following rows:

  • State: Displays aggregate data, such as mean average scores, for all the students in the state who completed the assessment. These aggregates may be delayed depending on your state’s policies, and may not be available for all tests.
  • District: Displays aggregate data, such as mean average scores, for all the students in the district who completed the assessment.
  • School: Displays aggregate data, such as mean average scores, for all the students in the school who completed the assessment.
  • My Students: If you are a teacher, displays aggregate data, such as mean average scores, for all your students who completed the assessment. Your students may be filtered by class (roster). To learn more about your students, refer to About the Students in Centralized Reporting.
  • [Student Name]: Displays data for the student.

If you're a user at the district level and the student is enrolled in more than one school in the district, you will find the school names listed in lieu of the School row.

SSID Student’s unique identifier.
Total

Displays the student’s performance data for the entire assessment. This column may contain the following sub-columns:

  • Score: Student’s score (or aggregate groups’ mean average scores).
  • Performance: Student’s performance level (or aggregate groups’ performance distributions).
[Reporting Category]* (multiple columns)

Displays the student’s performance data for each reporting category. Each column contains sub-columns, which may include the following:

  • Score: Student’s score for the reporting category (or aggregate groups’ mean average scores).
  • Performance: Student’s performance level for the reporting category (or aggregate groups’ performance distributions).
  • Item Numbers, Max Points and Points Earned: This sub-column is divided into further sub-columns. Each one displays the item number, below that the maximum score possible for the item, and below that the number of points the student earned for that item (or the aggregate groups’ mean averages of points earned). When you use the Standards Keys switch to show the standards to which items are aligned, standard keys appear below each item number. You can select the more information button More information button beside each key or set of keys to view a pop-up legend containing the full text of each cluster (category of standards) and each standard.
Writing Dimensions

Displays information on how a student performed on each writing dimension. Writing dimensions measure different aspects of writing performance. Contains the following columns under the Essay header:

  • [Essay type]: An essay type in the test.
    • [Writing dimension]: A writing dimension within the essay type, as listed in item rubrics, with the student’s score (or for groups of students, the percentage and number of students who earned each number of points).
*For assessments without multiple reporting categories, this column is labeled “Total Items” and displays data for all the items on the assessment.
