About Text-to-Speech

Students testing with Text-to-Speech (TTS) can listen to test content. A test may include text that is not permitted to be read aloud. This text will be skipped when using TTS. TTS is not available on Safari browsers.

If Auto TTS is enabled for a student, the content of each test page will be read aloud automatically, and students will not be able to respond to any test questions until it has finished reading.

If a student is using Text-to-Speech Tracking, the words and the surrounding line of text in passages and questions are highlighted as they are read aloud.

For information about setting up TTS, see the Technology Guide on the CAI Portal.
