Adding Students

This section explains how to add a new student record to TIDE.

To individually add a student to a district and school, you must be associated with the same district and school as the student. For example, district-level users can add students to any school within their district; school-level users can add students only to their school.

To add a student:

1.From the Students task menu on the dashboard, select Add Students. The Add Students page appears. For more information about using record forms, the section Navigating Record Forms.

2. Fill out the form as required. Use Table 8 as a reference.

3.Click Save.

If TIDE reports that another student already has the StudentID, contact the ClearSight Help Desk for assistance.

Statea State associated with the student.
Districta

This is the numeric ID associated with the BIA Regional Office associated with a given school. ID of the district in which the student will test. Unique identifier assigned to the district that provides educational services and/or instruction to the student.

Schoola

Unique identifier assigned to the school that provides educational services and/or instruction to the student. School ID that exists in TIDE, and must be associated with the user uploading the file. ID of the school in which the student will test.

StudentIDa

Student's statewide identification number. Student’s unique Native American Student Information System ID. Student’s Registration Number. State-assigned student identifier, which is unique within the district associated with the student.

Student's Last Namea Student's last name.
Student's First Namea Student's first name.
Student's Middle Name Student's middle name.

Reading/Seeing Text
Text-to-Speech/Assistive Technology Text-to-Speech (TTS) allows part of the test to be read aloud. Assistive Technology (AT) enables features compatible with AT devices.
Zoom | Font Size Sets font size for presentation of test content.
Color Contrast Sets the color of the text and background in the test.
Mouse Pointer Sets the size and color of the mouse cursor.
Streamline Mode Displays test content vertically for enhanced accessibility.
Permissive Mode Allows certified accessibility software to be used with the Secure Browser.
Four-Function Calculator

Indicates student takes online or paper-based tests.

The student’s IEP includes an indicator found in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA).

LEP Status

Indicates student has a language other than English spoken in the home and qualifies for English language services because the student did not test Proficient on the state language proficiency assessment. Indicates whether a student is an English Language Learner.

Section 504
Economic Disadvantage Status

Indicates student is eligible to receive supplemental educational services during the school year in accordance with Title I.

Language Code

Primary language spoken by the student. Code associated with student’s native language. Codes available via the Library of Congress (http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/English_list.php). Three alpha characters only.

English Language Proficiency Level Indicates to what extent student is an English-language learner. Indicates student's English Language Proficiency status.
Migrant Status
First Entry Date into a US School (MMDDYYYY)

Student's first day of school (ELL students only).

Limited English Proficiency Entry Date (MMDDYYYY)

Date student, classified as limited English proficient, entered the LEP program.

Limited English Proficiency Exit Date (MMDDYYYY)

Date student, classified as limited English proficient, exited the LEP program.

Title III Language Instruction Program Type The type of Title III language instructional programs.
Primary Disability Type Three alpha characters only.
Race and Ethnicity
Hispanic or Latinoa

Indicates student traces origin or descent to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Central and South America, and other Spanish cultures, regardless of race.

American Indian or Alaska Nativea

Indicates student has origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America), and who maintains cultural identification through tribal affiliation or community attachment.

Asiana

Indicates student has origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian Subcontinent. This area includes, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Black or African Americana

Indicates student has origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa.

White a

Indicates student has origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, Middle East, or North Africa.

Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islandera

Indicates student has origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands.

Demographic Race Two or More Racesa

Indicates student has origins in any of more than one of the racial groups.

STAAR 3-8 Above Grade Enter a grade for above-grade testing for this subject. For reading and mathematics, one of 5 grades (4, 5, 6, 7, 8) should be selected. For science, one of 2 grades (5, 8) should be selected. For social studies, enter grade 8 if the student is below grade 8. Only grades above the student's current enrolled grade are valid.
Test Language
