Adding Students

This section explains how to add a new student record to TIDE.

To individually add a student to a district and school, you must be associated with the same district and school as the student. For example, district-level users can add students to any school within their district; school-level users can add students only to their school.

To add a student:

1.From the Student Information task menu on the dashboard, select Add Student. The Add Student page appears. For more information about using record forms, the section Navigating Record Forms.

2. Fill out the form as required. Use Table 4 as a reference.

3.Click Save.

Student Information
Districta

District where student is enrolled.

Schoola

School where student is enrolled.

SSIDa

Statewide Student Identifier (SSID) assigned by ODE or Student ID for nonpublic and home-schooled students only.

District assigned student identifier

School or district student ID assigned locally.

Last Namea Student's last name.
First Namea Student's first name.
Middle Name Student’s middle name.
Gender Student's gender.
Birth Datea Student's date of birth.
Enrolled Gradea

Grade in which student is enrolled during the test administration.

Ethnicitya

Indicates student’s race or ethnicity.

Home District IRN of student’s home district. Should only be used to report scores to a home district. This is most commonly used by JVSDs or CTCs.
Home School IRN IRN of student’s home school.
Eligibility
Test Eligibility (Alternate Assessment)

Indicates student is eligible for the alternate assessments. Students marked “Yes” will not be eligible for Ohio’s State tests.

OELPA Mode

Indicates whether the student is eligible to take the Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment (OELPA). Required for OELPA students and the mode (paper or online).

Group Oral Administration (subject) Only available during the Spring Ohio’s State Tests Indicates whether a student is eligible for the group oral administration. Students marked “Yes“ will receive a common sequence of test questions for online testing.
Second Rater Indicates an Alternate Assessment student has been assigned a second rater to observe and score responses.
Accelerated Testing for Ohio’s State Tests (subject) The grade (must be higher than the enrolled grade) at which a student is tested for a given subject.
Home Schooled Indicates child is part of a home-schooled program.
Test Mode for Ohio’s State Tests (subject) Test mode for the indicated subject.
Breach Eligibility for Ohio’s State Tests(subject) Students that have been approved by the Department to use the online breach from will have the appropriate test marked here. Note, this is a read only field.
Additional Student Data
Limited English Proficient (LEP) Indicates if student is or is not an English language learner.
Accommodations (subject) Indicates if student is eligible for an accommodation.

Indicates student has a 504.

IEP Indicates student has an IEP.
Gifted/Talented Indicates student is identified as gifted.
Primary Disability

The primary disability condition that best describes student’s impairment.

Student Migrant Status

Student's migrant status.

Retester [EOC Subject] Indicates whether the student is retaking the corresponding End-of Course (EOC) test.
Class Information
Home Room Indicates the home room of the student.
Staff Member Indicates the home room teacher or someone else.
Section Number/ Class Name/ Course Code (subject) Indicates the section number, class name, course code for the given subject.
Teacher name (subject) Indicates the teacher name for the given subject.
Teacher Identification Number (subject) Indicates the teacher ID number for the given subject.
Test Settings and Tools
General Tools
Highlighter

Toggles the Highlighter tool on or off, allowing student to highlight text.

Default is on.

Masking Toggles the Masking tool on or off, allowing student to cover distracting regions of the test page.

Default is on.

Strikethrough

Toggles the Strikethrough tool on or off, allowing student to cross out answer options for selected response items.

Default is on.

Test Clock When enabled, allows a student to how long he has been actively testing.

Default is on.

Reading Tools
Line Reader

Toggles the Line Reader tool on or off, allowing the student to highlight text as they read.

Default is on.

Paginated Stimuli*

When enabled, allows a student to read a passage by “flipping” pages,similar to a book or e-reader. This eliminates vertical scrolling on passages. Only available for ELA and Social Studies. Default is on.

*Cannot be used with Screen Reader Mode

Text To Speech (TTS)

Sets which test content is administered with the TTS accommodation.

Text To Speech Tracking When enabled, each word in an item is highlighted as it is read. Default is off for ELA and on for Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
Visual Tools
Color Choices

List of available color settings. Default is "None".

Screen Reader Mode Indicates student can use a streamlined interface. This interface presents the test in an alternate, simplified format in which the items are displayed below the stimuli. This feature is only for blind or visually impaired students who use a screen reader. Not available for the biology, physical science and grade 8 science tests. Default is off. Cannot be used with Paginated Stimuli.By default, all tests use the standard mode. This interface is compatible with all supported desktops and tablets.The streamlined mode presents the test in an alternate, simplified format in which the items are displayed below the stimuli. All tool and navigation buttons are on the bottom of the screen.The streamlined mode is not intended to be tablet compatible.
Mouse Pointer

Indicates the size and color for a user’s mouse pointer.

Default is system default.

Print Size

Sets the default type size in which the associated tests appear.

Default is "No Default Zoom Applied".

Other Tools
Language

Language or accessibility mode in which test is presented.

Default is English.

Permissive Mode Student can use auxiliary software during testing. This feature requires department approval.

Default is "Disabled".

Domain Exemptions
Exempted Domains Indicates if a student is exempt from a domain on the OELPA test.
