Create a Content Element
-
At the top of the Content tab, select the New Content Item button. The Create New Content Item form appears, open to the Get Started step.
-
Fill out the Name field. This short text displays in DAISI and is used to create the URL where the element will appear, unless you choose to create a custom URL in a later step.
-
Fill out the Display Title field. This text will display on the client portal. It may be longer than the name and contain special characters.
-
Optional: Fill out the Short Description field. This text will display on the client portal in search results and widgets.
-
Select a content type. Refer to Manage Content in DAISI to learn about the various content types.
-
Select Next to move to the Type Specifics step.
-
Depending on the content type, the options in this step vary:
-
Announcement:
-
Select an announcement sub-type. For example, an announcement may require action, or it may be purely informational.
-
Enter a date, which will be displayed and also used to order announcements in carousel widgets on the client portal.
-
Optional: Enter the body copy to be displayed on the client portal. Limited HTML is permitted.
-
-
Event:
-
Select an event sub-type.
-
Enter a start date for the event and, optionally, an end date. These dates will be displayed and also used to order events in carousel widgets on the client portal.
-
Optional: Enter the body copy to be displayed on the client portal. Limited HTML is permitted.
-
-

Select an HTML element sub-type.
-
Optional: Enter the body copy to be displayed on the client portal. Limited HTML is permitted.

-
Resource:
-
Select a resource sub-type. For example, a resource may be an FAQ, a user guide, or a training module.
-
Optional: Enter a date, which will be displayed and also used to order resources in carousel widgets on the client portal.
-
In the Attached Resource section, add the resource file itself using one of the following options:
-
In the Attach a File tab, you can select the upload button and choose the file from your computer or, alternatively, drag and drop a file. You may attach only one file, and uploading another file will replace the existing one. To remove it, select the remove button.
-
In the Attach a URL tab, you can link to the file on another website by entering an external URL.
-
Select None to attach no resource.
-
-
Optional: Enter the body copy to be displayed on the client portal. Limited HTML is permitted.
-
-
Resource List: Follow the same steps as for a resource, with one exception. Instead of completing the Attached Resource section, use the Resource List section to choose existing resources to include in the list:
-
To filter the Available resources list, enter text in the search field above it.
-
Add a resource by selecting the add button beside it. The resource moves to the Selected resources list.
-
Optional: Remove a resource by selecting the remove button beside it. The resource returns to the Available resources list.
-
-
-
Select Next to move to the Tags step. You can also use Previous to revisit the previous step.
-
Select the tags that will be associated with the element both in DAISI and on the client portal. This is technically optional, but important.
-
If you are creating a resource or resource list, this step is crucial for helping portal users locate it. Depending how the portal is configured, it may also control how a resource appears in widgets; for example, a resource with the Students & Families tag may appear on the Students & Families page.
-
Tagging also helps DAISI users locate elements using filters and search.
-
-
Select Next to move to the Extras step. You can also use Previous to revisit the previous step.
-
Optional: If the element requires a special URL, enter it in the Navigation Title field. If you leave this field blank, the URL will be based on the display title entered in an earlier step.
-
Select whether the element should be included in RSS feeds. This will send an email out to all subscribed users regarding what on the site has been updated once the item has been published.
-
Select Save to save the new element and return to the table of content elements. You can also use Previous to revisit the previous step.
You will need to publish the new element to make it appear on the client portal.
